2016-06-28 15:40:43

PlayStation 4 is going to lose some Ustream support in the near future because Sony announced that it will "terminate" some Ustream features on the PlayStation 4 and other systems soon. Sony explained in a statement on its website that, come August 1, 2016, the following Ustream features will be removed from PS4 and the Live from PlayStation app:

  • Broadcasting gameplay to Ustream.
  • Viewing Ustream broadcasts from "Live from PlayStation" on the PS4 system, PlayStation App (PS App) and PlayStation Vita (PS Vita).

Furthermore, after the closure, players will still be able to broadcast their gameplay to places like YouTube, Twitch, and DailyMotion. Moreover, the streams from those sources (but not Ustream) will continue to be broadcast to the Live from PlayStation app. Sony said, "We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and we appreciate your understanding.”

Finally, Sony explained that the termination date, August 1, "may shift" depending on your local region. You can see here the detailed statement regarding the termination of support for Ustream features.
